About ClearSpeechTogether 

ClearSpeechTogether or CST is a therapy programme developed by Professor Anja Lowit, a Professor in Speech and Language Therapist working at Strathclyde University in Glasgow, Scotland.  

CST is an innovative therapy model that was designed to maximise the amount and intensity of speech practice for patients whilst keeping the number of sessions for clinicians to a minimum.  In addition to focusing on evidence based strategies to maximise intelligibility, it aims to support long-term self-management of the communication difficulties, making it particularly useful for progressive conditions.

Please note that to date, there is no definitive evidence of CST’s efficacy available. However, we have gathered evidence towards efficacy in two small research projects, a feasibility study and a pilot RCT. In addition, Ataxia UK are continuing to offer CST to their members with positive feedback. There are a number of groups that continue to meet for speech practice on a regular basis, exemplifying the potential of the approach for encouraging long term self-management.
